Enough chit chat. On with the judging.

I was looking forward to Doc & Pete discussing the relative merrits of using duterium (heavy water) as opposed to light water to moderate fission in our respective nuclear reactors (Canadian/American).....its the nuclear physicists' version of our Canon vs Nikon debate :D

The awards are in fewer categories tonite. Many great entries indeed, however, an effort was made to narrow the selection to those who have hit the theme most appropriately or uniquely in my estimation. Again, photographic excellence per se has been made somewhat subordinate to being theme-pertinent. Thus, you will see that some excellent images have not received an award under this theme, as judged by yours truly.

(1) Environmental Award: Belmondo. His picture is of epic coverage. It also shows environmental folly of those who have marred such a beautiful countryside with a farm of wind powered turbines.

(2) Graphics Award: Ayotnoms' #1 is the winner, Turnerdadze with his thistles is the runner up. Alas, in those images, I miss a bit that intimacy and a sense of belonging.

(3) "Glitz" Award: Pete with both of his entries. Polished yet quite pertinent entries. Skrim's bridge #2 is the runner up.

(4) Sense of Neighbourhood Award: DavidEB is the winner. Becca is No.2 closely followed by Sari's living room and then Webby's kitchen. (Too bad about cropping there).

(5) Overal Theme Winner: Condyk. The selection of his subjects as well as quality of his images speak rather eloquently and intimately about his own (unshared) particular space in the world.

Thank you very much for participating.

Well, since you got Paypal the awarding of top prizes in these non-competitions should be much easier ... thanks for the 'singular' honourific  I agree that I was one of the few who sought to represent the theme rather than just post a 'pretty' shot

Thanks also to all the many losers out there in POTN land; without you I wouldn't be a winner :D :p

It may or may not be. IT could be that heavy water is less filling since the increased mass would cool your core faster. The trick is, however, the recirculation.

Woo hoo!!
I hit the compliment jackpot yesterday. This one and the other from a co-worker who said, "Great looking shirt Steve. You can hardly tell you have a big belly."
:) :)

Congrats to the other winners.

...looking forward to the next contest Petkal conjures up.

Cheers

Steve
