It's the best for it. Why? it takes advantage of the proper focal lengths for lens that were designed for portraits.

85L for instance. Also 85 1.8 is stellar, especially for the value. Or the 100 f/2. Or the 100 f/2.8 Macro. Both great deals.

Then you have the 135 f/2L which is great on full frame for the long end for portraits.

Why not keep the 350D and spend the money on decent glass? You'd get a fair bit for the price you're looking to pay for a body.
Is your 350D becoming the limiting factor in the shots you want to take?

the FF is appealing to me for some reason, even though for some photos its overrated.Ive never had one and its just something that seems appealing because although I do like taking fast action Im getting more into portraits and such.I guess its just preference.Sometimes I hate waiting, and knowing I have the means to get the camera now rather than later(months and months)I guess I tend to jump the gun.The smarter way would to go for the glass,i know glass is more important I was just really asking for future reference.Might as well ask know than later.I do have a pretty strong grasp on the technical aspect,I guess I was hoping one someone that had a 5D give their opinion on fast action photos with the model.Kinda a yang to the yin of the model.

I have noticed the Xt is a tad slower on faster action. And that the XTi has improved on it.So yeah I guess I feel it was limiting.Maybe im wanting to much too soon.Im trying to get money by not only working but on the side doing portraits,so thats why the 5D came in....the 30D came in due to the faster focus and frame rate.Good for action. It still comes down to what I feel I need.Which is what everyone is telling me,that and go for glass, which I know.lol

As of 2:29pm 12/24.
I thought about it long and hard and although a FF is very appealing, for the needs Ill go with the 30D.Fps I think put me over for the fast action captures.Ill just have to adjust for the portraits.Another deciding factor is size.Although I love my XT I do find myself struggling with its size, and I wouldnt say I have overly large hands, normal for a male I suppose. And therefore the 30Ds size is very confortable.Yet another factor is that I do alot of walking around, downtown etc and the 5Ds weight seems like it would kill my neck.I really liked how the wheel on the back of the 30D operated, such as used for aperture settings and such.Althoough trivial its nice. Also I read the 30Ds focus is faster, again a plus for action. So thanks to all who have put their 2 cents in,it did help and in a couple months I hope Ill own a 30D,but just in case Ill wait to see when/if a 40D comes out.:D

If it is a dilema, get the 30D. The 5D is a very good camera for those who have specific requirements and know why they need the camera. If you needed a 5D you would know and would not have to ask on the internet. The 30D is a mid market camera designed to meet the needs of the majority of photographers. It is the best choice for most of us as an optimal compromise between cost and performance.

Well to be honest I didnt know exactly what the 5D was aimed for until I talked to the guy at the photo store.I,like anyone else, can read reviews but a majority of those review the good more so the bad.Or maybe bad isnt the word, maybe the weaker points of the camera. How it handles higher ISO and how the WB is are the topics i read about most.At 3fps the 5D is too slow for what Im wanting it for.And from what Ive heard and been told, the camera that would really set me off good would be a Mk2n,which looking at the price is gonna be a while before I have that in my hands. So Ive decided Ill buy some L lenses for the Xt I have now and eventually pick up a mk2n...or possibly a mark3 if they come out with one and it has some impressive upgrades.
