Error during Backup

I am having problems backing up photos to a CD-R. After the backup session is completed, I get an error message that reads:
An error occurred while verifying the files were successfully written to the CD. Incorrect Function

Any thoughts?

It would certainly appear that there is an error in the data recorded.

Are you using a make of CD-R that you have used before? ... and, can you save any other files/data to a CD from this batch?

I would suggest you try a different make/brand of CD-R, preferably a well-known brand.

How are you making the backup? and do you have, say, MS Raw viewer Power Toy installed? I've found that some of the supplementary data files (thumbs.db, zbthumb.info, etc.) may change or get updated while you're making the backup and thus not match what got burned to the CD when the verification pass is finished.

Jon makes a good point. Why not try switching off the verification, then just manualy checking the CD when it's finished?

Just a small point - I though that the verification did not do a bit for bit comparison – but just a check from the media (i.e. if the data can be read from the CD).

Yes, but if Jon is correct, it is simply checking & comparing file dates/sizes, in which case that might be throwing it.(?)

Depends on what application you're using. Which is why I asked. Some check readability, som compare files, some compare directory entries.

As well as what software you are using it would probably help if you listed step by step how you are doing it. An auto function or walking through a wizard or some type of manual backup.
