I always hear the Opteka one is exactly the same but I've heard some complaints that the shutter release is soft compared to the Canon one.

and for the ebay link posted above, I have no idea if that is good or bad. but if youre paying like 95USD for that, I'd rather get an Opteka one and not risk S/H from China and getting something thats not widely known...

I thought the shutter release on the BG-ED3 was soft anyway ;) Opteka don't make a grip for the 20D/30D as far as I'm aware :(.

lol - that's ok, I don't mind going off-topic as long as it doesn't turn into a religous war (Canon L zealots, anti L zealots, and the M42 zealots, all slugging it out!

If you wanted to donate one of these grips, I wouldn't say no! Although perhaps I should point the vendor at the December spendathon count, and suggest that they donate one for review. . .

B&H now has a Targus grip for the 20D and 30D as well, for $119 USD

Judging from the image on the B&H site, the batteries are inserted via the end of the unit instead of via the rear as with the actual BG-E2.

I have a Hahnel grip bought from Warehouse Express for the 350D - I see they now do one for the 30D.

Anyone use this yet? I'm looking for a BG for my 30D, and don't want to spend so much as it is a simple thing.

If I can scrape some money together, I may give one of the cheapo ones a go - the dollar being so weak against sterling at the minute means that $120 is very affordable - depending on postage and tax etc.
