I was in jessops there,

going to get a 400d (they didnt have any left  ) and battery grip, plus a cf card....

Now price for camera was fine, then price for grip was fine....

But then I said I would need a Sandisk extreme III 2gb, she said 120 quid, which I thought wee bit expensive but just assumed thats about right, just been on my memory though and seen that...its only 47.99 on there???

what the hell is going on?? did the girl in the shop read the price wrong or something???

Unless they do a price match, don't even think about buying anything like this from Jessops - Don't use ebay either because of all the fake ones.

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=183345

I just bought a 2Gb Sandisk Extreme III for about £43 from picstop.co.uk. and this came with the free Capture One license code as well!

I'd give your money to someone else if I were you...

Thanks loads for this link!!!

I called jessops his morning in ayr where I stay, and they have them in stock and he says if its a uk company they will price match,

so I will be getting 400D kit for £480, also I mentioned to the guy I could get the sandisk for 43 quid instead of his 120 quid!!

He said "Im not really meant to price match on these but bring in the printout and we will match it!"

which is excellent, also im getting the battery grip, but they charge 129.99, but Im gonna show him the printout from there and hopefully he will price match it too and give me it for 85 quid!!

I will update you guys later on how it goes, fingers crossed!!!!

Jessops are going to be feeling a bit sorry for themselves later, lol

It's precisely because they offer price matching that Jessops set such inflated sticker prices.
They rely on customers' ignorance/apathy, & people believing that 'price match' is the same as 'our advertised price is competitive'.
Which of course it AINT.
Forget Jessops & get your cards from 7 Dayshop or Davoom

These prices are exactly why the scammers on E-bay still manage to reel in new marks for there counterfeit carp.

Jessops told me they didn't price-match memory cards so I bought mine from 7dayshop.com when I lived in the UK.

They did for me... I think it all comes down to the local branch/management - If they have had a bad month they will probably match anything to get the sale and cashflow, if they have had a good month they probably wont be so forthcoming with the matching.

The thing that bothers me with price matching is that it doesn't reward those stores or online retailers that are bold enough to set a low "sticker price" for an item. It rewards the store you're matching at in a couple of ways - they probably get away with some sales at the high "sticker price", and they get to shift the item (which I doubt will be at a significant loss).
