Sorry if this is basic stuff I should know.
I downloaded a free action...so how do I access it? It's on my desktop, do I extract it? Open it? Actually, I've tried both, but nothing seems to happen in CS2.

Copy your .atn file there. Open photoshop, find the actions palette, find the right arrow near the top right. Hit it, choose load action, find your .atn file. All from memory but that's the basic idea. Might even be a good idea to put the .atn files in a place that you regularly back up (must check that myself).
