Sorry if this is basic stuff I should know. I downloaded a free action...so how do I access it? It's on my desktop, do I extract it? Open it? Actually, I've tried both, but nothing seems to happen in CS2. :( Thanks for your help!

Make a folder somewhere - I made under my c:\program files\adobe\photoshop cs2\myactions. Copy your .atn file there. Open photoshop, find the actions palette, find the right arrow near the top right. Hit it, choose load action, find your .atn file. All from memory but that's the basic idea. Might even be a good idea to put the .atn files in a place that you regularly back up (must check that myself).

Not sure about a PC, but on a mac, put it in appliactions/photoshop/plug-in/action folder.
Then open photoshop, go to your actions pallette, and hit the little triangle on the left. On the resulting drop-down menu hit "load action", browse for the action and click it. it should now be loaded and ready to go.
hope that's clear - good luck!

Do it the easy way. Just drag the file from the file explorer onto the actions toolbox. Tada, there it is, installed and ready to go.
