Capturing waves

I have a mania for photographing waves and I'm not good at it. But I wont give up. I really love the fact that the Canon S3 IS has 1/3200 second shutter spead. It's so great to catch water and freeze it in all its liquidy glory.

Unfortunately, at the beach, waves are very mobile and cameras are very not waterproof. So, I used the zoom for these captures, while standing in abut 4 to 0 inches of water, depending on whether or not the water had run back into the ocean at the time.

Here's a double shot -- one edited and one unedited. The sun can be very unforgiving and wash out a lot of color -- but with any image editing program, with a few simple steps you can add depth and dimension to a photo quite easily, even if you have to post it at a lower res.

Wow, looks much better with sharpening. What software did you use?

Your second version is a HUGE improvement! Good job on the PP as well as the photo.
