I had taken a few lack lustre shots from the boat as we made out way down stream. A family of elephants appeared on the bank and after a few cack shots at 70mm I added a 1-stop GND with blutack, a storm was coming and the sun had gone in so the sky was blowing. It is a bit dark but reflects the moment as I remember it. Comments and Critique welcomed.

5D, 70-300IS, ISO320, 1/1000 sec, f8 (Shooting with the tele I was not expecting to shoot a landscape :) )

Great shot Neil. I think the Elephants are a bit dark though. Is there any way you can bring them out?

That sky is glorious though, well done for thinking on your feet! I know I would've just had a blown sky and pitch black elephants

Have to try harder on the exposure, for a web pic I shouldn't have a problem but noise shows up on larger images on the Elephants.

Cheers Adam

Neil, maybe you should experiment with some coloured Grads to get that 'CSI: Miami' look ;)

I like the composition, but strikes me this would be ideal for a touch of 'fill light' in LR or RSP (what do you PP with?)

I convert the Raws in RSE then bring out the rest in CS2. Either way (RSE or CS2) noise becomes and issue. I will have a play and see what I come out with over the weekend :) The sky was already difficult due to the moisture and haze in the air (we got very wet shortly after this) and fill light doesn't look right.

very nice shot. I love the dynamic range in the sky, it almost looks HDR.

Super job Neil and I do prefer the edit bringing the Shadows out a bit.

I like the edit Neil. You've lost saturation as a result, but it was a decent trade-off.

Cheers guys, and cheers Adam for pushing the lighter version - I think I can get away with printing it.

Neil I like how the gray sky in the far off distance provides some nice contrasting colors around the elephants and trees, and the water/reflections look so natural.
This shot to me warrants a frame and to be hung.
