When i download my photo's from 5D or 20D via a card it downloads them to my computer at 72dpi, is that not pretty low?. Is there a way to increase this or whats the best way to download them?

P.S. If this is in the wrong section please move

Take a small piece of masking tape, and apply it to your monitor screen where it says "XX dpi". It is a virtually useless piece of metadata applied to a digital image that won't affect anything.

Concern yourself only with the number of pixels you have and your intended print size. Divide pixels by inches to determine your resolution. If you have a 1200 x 1800 pixel image, that would be 300 pixels per inch on a 4x6, or 150 pixels per inch on an 8 x 12.
