There realy is no comparison - you must buy yourself a secondhand 20D if you are serious about photography.
You would never regret it!
On the other hand if you want a camera for high days and holidays with the ability to change lenses then you may as well stick with the 300D.
Either way - happy snapping...

i cant stick with the 300D it wont work in high speed sync and i need it for flash with birds and wildlife...which is useful on overcast days with 400mm lense...but i am planning on keeping the 300D so i have a second body fo use if the other has to go in for service and so i can keep a zoom on it and prime on the 20D ...

Thanks

I've used high sync speed with my 300D and my Sigma EF500DG....never a problem...you just have to set it on the flash, rather than on the body. Same with 2nd curtain sync...set it on the flash, and you're good to go.

Alright thanks but i still think i am in need for an upgrade i have many things i dislike like about it ... i mean it was a great camera to learn on but now i just want to shoot in raw only, want to have more custom functions, center weighted or spot metering, where you can set the camera for AI servo only not let the camera decide when you need it, wouldnt mind higher MP but its not a necessity...

There are a couple of 20D's listed on www.keh.com (external link) right now for around $750.

Brandon - those were the reasons I upgraded (except RAW...the 300D's RAW is just fine), and it's been great so far. The 20 or 30D is just so much better from a usability and responsiveness standpoint. The 300D takes amazing photos, and the image quality difference in negligible (though there is about a stop better noise control on the 30D), but for moving subjects, there is absolutely no comparison.

Hogwash. Have you tried out Highspeed sync on the Drebel/300D? You need an external flash to set it, but it works just fine. I just tried it out on mine. The hspeed sync icon shows up in the viewfinder.

I'm not sure if the 20/30D allow the built-in flash to go into high speed sync mode, but any built-in flash is quite weak in power. Get yourself a good external flash, if you don't have one already, and use it on your 300D. You set high speed sync on the external flash.

Good luck.
