Here's a photo I shot the other evening with my 1D/EF 50 f1.4 combo set in manual mode, at f/1.8 - shutter speed 1/100, ISO400 with flash. A little pp through Aperture.

gkuenning Goldmember More info | Dec 16, 2006 02:40 | #2 Nice shot. The focus seems to be on the cat's whiskers, with just a touch of softness on your wife. It also seems like you traded detail in the cat's fur for a bit of overexposure on your wife's face. It's probably tough to get both. Geoff

Your sharing of this photo has definitely been a learning tool for me. I've known that f1.8 has a very narrow dof...I didn't realize how narrow though until this photo. I know know that to get a good group shot, not to use anything below f2.8 possibly even below f4! Thank you for sharing! Cheers,
