Last night I tried a different setting for exposure in an attempt to get the iso down. I had been shooting at 1600 iso but I was not happy with the noise in the photos. To offset the lower iso setting, I went with a slower shutter speed hoping that it would not result in too much motion blur.
Overall I was quite happy with the new exposure settings (400 ss, f2.2, 800 iso).
I started shooting the game from the baseline inside the 3 point line which resulted in some respectable shots.

After the first half, I moved to the other baseline which happened to be where the cheerleaders were standing; furtunately, they were taking an extended break

After about 5 minutes of shooting from the cheerleaders baseline, the cheerleaders decided their break was over and they needed to cheer for the home team. This forced me to the corner of the baseline which I was not sure if I would like that location. I started shooting with a 135 f/2 which resulted in a few good shots but then I switched back to the 85 mm.

The game was nearing the end when one of the better local players intercepted a pass for a clean break to the basket. Fortunately for me, I had switched to 85mm and the cheerleaders were still cheering which kept me in the corner.

It turned out to be a really good night of basketball, (home team won by 25 points) and I was able to try a few different settings on the camera.
C&C always appreciated.
