Last night I tried a different setting for exposure in an attempt to get the iso down. I had been shooting at 1600 iso but I was not happy with the noise in the photos. To offset the lower iso setting, I went with a slower shutter speed hoping that it would not result in too much motion blur.

Overall I was quite happy with the new exposure settings (400 ss, f2.2, 800 iso).

I started shooting the game from the baseline inside the 3 point line which resulted in some respectable shots.

Nice work, Matt. I like the action in #2, although it looks like you faced some of the challenges in shooting with primes. It's a tradeoff.

The earthy tones of that gym along with the gold uniforms look like a particularly difficult challenge when trying to nail the color. At first glance they looked too warm and with a bit of greenish hue, but the white is white! Maybe it's because there's very little true red, which tricks my eye into thinking they look warm? Not sure.

I had some interesting color challenges in a gym the other day, I'll post some pics in my own feedback thread later. In my case, it was in a blue gym on bright blue wrestling mats. Tough one for my eyes to sort out!

Nice captures. Like the dunk shots (too bad his feet are cropped out, though). Nice expression as he throws it down.

these look a bit dark towards the end.. higher ISO would help, and if you overexpose by, lets say half a stop, you can usually get very low noise levels (i'de want to say lower than iso800, but i never bother with 400 or 800)

Dude, don't be afriad of ISO 1600 with the 20D. At the very least, if you left the shutter speed at 1/400, the noise would be less aparent if you expose more to the right. Or you could crank the shutter to 1/500, which is a little bit safer.

I'd go with the ISO 1600 and 1/500 in this case as my option.

Your analysis on the color is right, the solution is wrong. To fix the skin tons add blue to the image. You can do this through adjusting color balance or using one of the photo filter options (blue or magenta). This will degreen the darker complected players.

I made an adjustment to the image based on your advise. Here is the before and after images to ensure this is the correct adjustment. ( I used the photo filter cooling filter 82 at 7%)
