I just got a Powershot A630 which looks great BUT within two hours of starting to use it, the lens cover "leaves" had jammed half open (or half shut) and don't move when I switch on / off.

Anyone with a bright idea? It seems this has happened to other users

I fixed my Minolta XTg with Labelle Industries 134 Lubicating powder. You find it at model train supply shops. Just a touch does it.

Same thing happened to my a610... I sent it to canon and they fixed it.... turn around time was pretty short and have had no problems since then...
