Hi,

I was using Canon UVs on my lenses and got good results, However, I just tried a B+W UV and there is a very distinct difference and improvement in IQ. So, in the next few months I plan to replace all my Canon UVs with B+W UVs.

I stumbled onto this when I put a B+W UV on my new 135MM EF L. I was blown away by the IQ. At first I thought it must be this outstanding lens. But, when I tried a 77MM B+W UV on my 17-55 EF-S IS I saw a distinct improvement to IQ there.

My lesson learned is that if you use UVs buy only the best multi-coated ones you can :)

Jim -- I keep the Leica D-Lux 7 in the Glove Box just in case!
7D, G5X, 10-22MM EF-S, 17-55MM f/2.8 EF-S IS, 24-105MM f/4 EF L, Leica D-Lux 7

Yes, the Canon filters are I understand only single coated although there is no clear statement of that.

Use the B&W but make sure it is the multicoated MRC type, else use Hoya SHMC.
