My desktop and my laptop are both in my wireless network throughout my house. If I am on the desktop, and my wife is somewhere else on the laptop, how can I send her - say a link to a photo on the net. Maybe I am here at POTN and I see a thread I think she would be interested in. Without going to her physically, I just want to send the link.

Thanks,
Stefan

Send her an email and then yell over to her to "check mail". That's what I do.

I've used msn in the same room. It was fun to see the expression on her face when a message came in.

You can also tell her to start up IM or look at her email using Net Send .

Have a kid and then get them to crawl over with a little note ... however, concieving it via wireless network could be difficult :-) I don't know how that could be achieved  Maybe you have a kid already, or could train up an existing pet instead?

Simplistically, You need to set up 'file sharing' on both machines and have a 'shared' folder available on both to enable files to be viewable to each other - bear in mind that this could introduce security issues, particularly if the network is not firewalled properly.

...Or as others have said just send an email or IM... Or even talk to each other  :)

Having a common device such as AIM, MSN, Google Talk will be more than sufficient. You can even do voice chat over them. They are also very easy to use.

File sharing will work great for just that, sharing files. But you can't put a link in a file and have her see it. If you put something in a shared folder you would still have to tell her it was in there. Your best option still is to setup an IM on both pc's and have them running all times when your on. Or the kid thing or train a pet to take a note to her.
