I participate in a number of on-line BBS, but the sheer flux of messages on this one is amazing. Each sub-forum turns the first page thread list several times a day.

How do you keep up!? It is really a rhetorical question, but still, there is a -lot- of posting going on around here.

I know what you mean. Add in sleep and when you come back the threads you were participating in are nothing like what you left those few hours earlier.

I log in when I'm on the computer. If I am busy, I just check to see if anyone commented on something I started or am interested in. No all day, but for about 10 quick minutes at a time.

I learned to read MUCH faster than I have ever done before.. which is quite something considering I am a veteran of fast moving online media (mailing lists, messageboards, long before forums) ;)

I don't even try. I was trying to keep up with some of the "chat" threads, but they move way too fast for me. I would go away for a few hours and there would be 10 pages to read when I got back, so I gave up. But I do try to check into the photo sharing area at least once a day and give a quick peruse to the stuff in General Chat and Member Activities.

I occasionally check in on a couple of those threads, and if they're talking about something interesting, I'll chime in. They're pretty chatty, and rarely do they discuss anything of substance, so I don't try to go back and see what I've missed. It would be like walking into the corner bar and asking what they've talked about since you were last there.

Being a moderator, I have a checklist of things I look for when I log on. Once the housekeeping is done, I'll check my subscribed threads, and lastly browse for topics that interest me. This week, it's the 50mm f/1.2L---there are a couple threads dealing with it running right now, and I check on them regularly. Finally, when time allows, I'll dig into the Transportation Forum for any new train photos. I still haven't outgrown that passion.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
