After looking at lots of tripods iv orded this one main reason it hold's 12kg and weigh's 3 kg the manfrotto 055pro was my first choice but only holds 6kg .
this ones about £120 so not a lot for waht it hold's.
Rob.

I was thinking of buying this tripod, so I would love to hear your experiences with it when it arrives!

WELL its here already :)
i ordered it Sunday and at 4.00 today it arrived from Warehouse Exspress £117.94 inc postage
i have been trying to decide what tripod to get for a while now and had just about gone for the Manfrantto 055PROB untill i saw one, FOR my gear it did not look right for the job Remember its for a 1dmk2 and 500f4isL + tc so i NEED something that will take the weight inc my gimble the 005PROB would be at the limite with my set up aprox 6kg i dont like that ider - The MT9170 Take's upto 12kg quite a diffrence and quite a lot to play with.
The Tripod is great and far better than i thought it would be,it looks to be very well made and is finshed in black the head that comes with it is really quite good and turns very smoothly then can be locked in a second the legs lock with a twist ring just a 1/4 turn very quick and locks solid i could not pull it out or push it in when locked thats the same with the inbuilt centre colum it just pulls up and a twist lock's it .
it weigh's 2.8kg not bad at all for the load it will hold ,i have not had chance to fix my gimble on it yet as i need to make a simple plate as i use overkill to fix this rather than the 1/4 or 3/8 screw suplied.
in my oppion its worth twice the price and can handel most large lenses out there hope to field test it over the xmass break.
by the way im not knocking the 055PROB its very well made and im sure for smaller lenses it will do a great job.
eddit the MT even comes with a free very well made holdall for it.
Rob.

Thanks for the opinion Rob!

It looks like I'm going to go for this tripod. Who knows, if I order it now, maybe it'll come before Xmas!

Thanks again.

Francis
