No snow yet but it's bloody well cold here. Some days it's -15c and other days it's +8c.
Not sure what these buildings are for, but I think there're storage sheds for the lighthouse maintence.

Looking back on these images, it seems as though they lost alot of detail for some reason???

Thanks for looking
C&C always

Those are foreboding skies Frank, and thanks for the links to the larger shots so that they could be appreciated better.

Excellent shots Frank, love the composition and colour, what I wouldn't give to see some skies like that. :)

Come down here for a few days, looks like we are getting some uncharacteristically bad weather for a few days :(

Great shots Frank, I love that sky.

The clouds are amazing but the shack in the left one is kind of fake looking. Looks cool though!

I suppose the main subject here is the sky with these vicious clouds moving in and....oh boy....did you nail them.

Thanks so much John. We get alot of these wild looking skys on this side of the pond, so it's nice to take advantage of them sometimes or make the best of it;)

Thanks Neil for your response. The Fall and Winter are sure times to get skys like this.

Yes Mike I used a #1 ND grad by Cokin. Not the best quality filter but it's a stepping stone towards a better quality system.

Thanks Robert for your comment. The shed may look fake but it has the least amount of PP done to it. It pretty much looks the same straight from the camera

Thank so much Dimitri, and yes your right about the clouds being my main subject. The sky was churning out so many cloud formations all I needed was a simple FG subject to make a shot...
It was a fun day:D;)

For me, the second needs to go straight to the framers. I love the sky (on both actually), the foreground and the composition is spot-on. Really impressive Frank.

Not only did you take advantage of those magnificent skies, Frank, but you got some great detail and color with the foreground rocks. Great work.

Wow what dramatic skies you've captured here Frank. Big nod to both the photographer and ND grads here. I just read an article online about stormy weather photography and then you go and post these. ;) I wouldn't worry about loss of detail, the larger images you've linked to have plenty of it.

Wow! The shots are amazing. I would love to see skies like that here. (We seem to have fair skies almost all year lately...not that that's a bad thing.)

Frank, if you hadn't said you lost detail, I wouldn't have noticed anything. Was it windy when you took those? Did you use a tripod with mirror lock-up? What speed did you use?

Did you use your 10-22, because I noticed a little distortion in the very corners typical of wide-angles? It doesn't detract from the image though. Maybe detail was lost in the PP.

I'm enjoying seeing a part of the world so different to mine. Keep it up.

Thanks again Paul,
It was a tad bit windy that day Paul, I used a tripod but not mirror lock-up. The Speed was 1/160, f/9, ISO 200. I didn't have a WA at the time so had to use the 18-55 kit lens.
