Does anybody know if the Manfrotto Magic arm can screw into the Manfrotto Clamp?

Thanks

Dan.

Hopefully this will answer your query:

Looks like it does to me assuming that is the arm and clamp you mean.

Hope that helps

Your link does not work. It opens a page that requires searching, etc., to find the product.

Dan, I plowed through the Bogen website and found that there are a lot of "clamps" listed, including many different types.

Which clamp, specifically, are you concerned with using with the Magic Arm?

Also, which version of the Magic Arm are you considering?

Well, in that shot above, it is the 035 clamp. Not sure about the arm though

Arm: Manfrotto Arm 143RC
Clamp: Manfrotto Clamp 035

I could not find a "143C" Magic arm, but there are similar 143 series arms that show the 035 Super Clamp with them. I suspect the clamp attaches to a 5/8" stud to make it compatible with the arm.

Exacly... you'll just need the right stud. The Super Clamp is brilliant. I used it yesterday to attach my camera to my bike, to make funny night exposures... I would love one of those Magic Arms aswell.

Cheers

The Magic Arm (143N) or Vario-Friction Arm (244N) connects directly into the 035 Superclamp.

I have the Bogen/Manfrotto Variable Friction Magic Arm (244N) and yes it drops directly into the Super Clamp socket.

What are you going to mount on the end of the Magic Arm? One end is tapped for a 3/8” stud and the other end is tapped for a ¼” stud. Depending on what will go on the end you will need another part. It’s like a Barbie Doll, lots of accessories.

Search B&H using the term “Magic Arm” and see what turns up.

Yes they do fit.

I much prefer the Manfrotto Variable Friction Arm to the Magic arm though.

Mike V,

I’ve spent many a sleepless night tossing and turning wondering if I made the right choice. After looking at the catalog for a while I choose Variable Friction Arm over the Magic Arm just because it looked like the knob would pack down smaller than the lever. Other than that they seem to be the same but the catalog implies there is dissimilarity.

You’ve been around both so what is the difference between the two besides one having a knob and one having a lever?

Thanks

The lever on the magic arm clicks tight and loose i.e. two positions. When it is in the loose position all three joints on the arm go totally slack.

The knob on the variable friction arm screws up tight. As you loosen the knob, the 3 joints on the arm slowly slacken off i.e. variable friction rather than just 100% tight, 100% loose. You can loosen the knob a little, then reposition the arm and then tighten it again.

It's a matter of preference, but I find the variable friction easier to make slight adjustments two.
