My local photography store is selling their XTis in a buddle. XTi body, 18-55mm and 75-300mm lens for $999. I currently have an XT, 18-55, 50mm, and 75-300mm and they woudl be replaceing both my 18-55mm and 75-300mm lens. I plan on selling my XT and all the gear, minus the 50mm, so buying those lens would be a given.

Personally, I don't see what you would be gaining by going from the XT to the XTi.

I realise there are specification changes - but I don't think there are enough changes to tempt me.

Others are different, I accept, so it may be a deal for them.

What do you see as the most significant gain in making a move like this?

Man ... that is a very dumb move: change 350 for 400 ... no, please don't throw good money away like that :-)

Change 350 to 400, what are you talking about?

My current Rebel is used, and going from 8 to 10mp, self cleaning sensor, shutter life is ratted well over the rebel.

Hey, if you can convince me to buy something else, let me know. I plan to keep whatever I get for a while.

Upgrading seems pretty silly to me. 2MP makes almost no difference, and you can buy cleaning gear that will do the job properly from http://www.copperhillimages.com/ (external link) for $30. You'd be better off buying yourself a book about photography, it'll do 100x more for your photos than buying unnecessary new toys.

I have two 20Ds which I use professionally, I see no need to upgrade until one breaks, even then I might just have it repaired.

Don't go for the 'upgrade' from the XT to the XTi.

Not worth it.

Alright, back to the drawing board on a camera to get. What do you recommend? Half the reason I want to buy a new camera is so it's "new" and not used. I don't like used stuff, blah blah it's a bad thing blah blah, but anyways. Plus I want to get a better camera all around. Sometimes I have pictures printed in the dimentions of around 4'x2' so I figured a couple more megapixles wouldn't hurt.

Make hardly any difference even for big images. Do the ppi math.

If it were me and my budget was around that of an XT or XTi, I would look at a used 20D.

What makes a 20D better than an XTi?
