Don't often post hoop action as there is always plenty of good stuff to be found here... but here are a few just for a change, mosty with the jubbly 85mm f/1.8 lens thingmy:

Oh dear... that must have hurt a bit (allegedly)...

#2 just needs a basket and it would be great. Really like number 3 as well, my editor really likes these non action shots. My favourite is the last one however, it's a differnt angle and I really like it.

I've not shot anything for 2 weeks now. My index finger is twitching.

Have you abandoned your two flash setup?

Thanks Darren! I carry on my football-shoot-tight-as-**** thinking onto the basketball court

I realise I should sometimes shoot a wee bit wider... but, in all honesty, I find it hard to do. Time for a remote methinks.

Great shots as usual!

This venue is wee bit brighter than last season's shambolic, gloomy hole!

I can get away with 1/500s, f/2.2-2.5 at ISO1600... and I'm only retrieving about 2/3 of a stop of underexposure.

I'd much rather shoot with flash from the point of view of image quality.... but to beat the ambient light by 2-3 stops (at this venue) would take some pretty serious kit and it's simply not worth the investment for the kind of coverage that UK hoops attracts.

Gavin, I agree, BB is still a minority sport and commands very little coverage other than local papers. I had put together a shopping list of White Lighting/Alien Bee strobes, Pocket Wizards, cables, security fixings etc. and I realised there is no way I could get a return on my money.

You said in a previous thread of mine that the National Indoor Arena has tables for editing. Do you know if they have an internet connection? If you don't know I will ring them later.

Thanks
Darren

I used my 3G card last year and the connection was fine.

I don't recall if there was Wi-Fi available. It certainly wasn't mentioned in the media pack. However, it'd be slightly surprising if there wasn't a Wi-Fi facility at the NIA, so might be worth asking the question. If there is, hopefully they won't charge an arm and a leg to use it!

Nice to see some lads from 'ooop north on a raid down to your neck of the woods Gavin! All up to your usual very high standard with plenty of peak action.

Cheers,

Simon.

PS All the best to you and yours for Christmas and New Year!

Simon
