Well, here is the story on these pictures. I was driving around a couple weeks ago and I saw this small lake. My first pass at it, it was around 5PM and the site was gorgeous. I found myself there every weekend for the past three weeks, taking pictures on different days and times. Well here are the results and as always C&C is welcome.

1. Panoramic

Wow! I'm nearly speechless (and that's saying a lot -- just ask my husband). The colors in #1 are gorgeous, the reflection in #2 is blowin' my mind. On the one hand, since it matches the clouds in the sky, it's clearly a reflection. But on the other hand, it looks like long exposure water movement. The reflections in all the shots are great, but the one in #2 really gets me.

Agree with you about #5. Def. worth it. Kudos to you!

Thanks for the comments. I did notice the looks of the water movement in my pictures also after I took them. If you look at #4 it looks more like a true reflection and the others almost like a painted picture. I do not know why they turned out to look like that. #4 was done with my back to the sunset and the others were with the camera pointed towards the sunset. Im thinking the lighting differences.

These shots are taken at a little "lake" in Virginia Beach, VA. It a small lake with two small canals that run into it. These canals lead out to Back Bay which is a Wildlife refuge. Oh yeah, if you fancy snakes there are quiet a few which scared me. Not sure what kind I saw, but they were at least 5-6 feet long. Copperheads are common in that area and it's a good thing that the ones I saw were swimming in the water, which gave me time to move away.

Very nice with #5 being my favourite. Your photos are great examples of just how much the light (and weather obviously ;) ) can influence the style of photo produced.

Thanks. I am still a new guy to photography and I chose this area as a study point. The main thing I learned here was that everday and time is a new picture. I never realized how much of a difference it makes.

Thanks. I showed the wife the last one last night and she was astonished. Brownie points for me. :D

These are gorgeous - how lucky could you be to have no wind rippling the water in every shot! Then I read your post about the snakes - OMIGOD, that finished me! I am totally phobic about snakes! :(

There were days with wind and some where it was just calm and quiet. The windy days just didn't give the reflections justice so I found myself there quiet often waiting for the perfect time. As for the snakes, I am phobic too and everytime I saw a ripple in the water, I stood up and waited to make sure nothing was going to jump out at me!

Thanks. My wife loves the picture as well and I am thinking about a 16x20 for her for Christmas.
