Great shot. I haven't been able to get within range of a crow this year.

Here's sharing Large-billed Crow (Corvus macrorhynchos) in flight, taken with the hand held 20D + 400 5.6L + Tamron 1.4x TC, 560 mm, f/8 (wide open), 1/1250 sec, ISO 800

Liquidstone: I am considering the option of a 400 5.6 and Tamron 1.4 TC. Your picture, which is beautiful and sharp, would lead me to believe it is a winning combination. I am especially interested in whether or not you lose AF with the tc, and how fast the AF is is you are able to use it? Thanks.

Thanks again, everybody.

AF still works decently with the 400 5.6L on a 1.6 CF body with the standard Tamron 1.4x TC. Not as fast as the bare lens, but still fast enough to catch fliers. Black birds are very tough on the AF system, but the 400 5.6L + 1.4x still managed to lock on this flying crow....:D

As everyone has already said, its a wonderful shot of a very difficult coloured subject.
