Hello,

I have come to your forum in hopes of finding help with my Canon problem.
I have a Canon PowerShot S2 IS which was purchased new about a year ago. The other day we turned the camera on to find the LCD screen and optical veiwfinder completely black with all of the icons appearing. It seems as though it takes a picture if you push the button but there is simply nothing on the screens at any time. I can not figure out what is going on.

I would be most greatful for any insight or information on this problem.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't want to seem foolish but sometimes it is the simplest thing that we overlook.
I tried to duplicate you problem on my S2 and the only time I got black EVF and LCD with Icons showing on the LCD was when I had the lens cap on

What setting is it in? If in manual you can do it with high aperture and high shutter speed...if not much light available :D
