From Sunday the 17th. First time shooting gymnastics in about a year. First time shooting gymnastics in digital. I found out how fast the buffer can fill on the 10D! My timing was not good! I took several hundred pics, but I don't feel right about putting someone else's daughter in the net with out permission, so I will just post a few of my daughter... I have my permission!

As it seems you already know, 5 and 6 are a little off. But otherwise, nice job. I have a deep appreciation of Gymnastics, my sister was a gymnist for 8 years, and ended up as a level 9 before she quit and went into competetive cheerleading.

True, these girls bust there butts with this stuff! My daughter just moved to a new gym. She moved to level 7 and her old gym wasn't really up to it. They grouped level 7 and 10 in her session. It was the first time I saw level 10 girls compete. Wow! Even my son had to pay attention (girls his age in tights may have helped) and normally he just groans about sitting for 5 hours!

We have another meet early Jan, so I get another shot at this soon!

After I realized I couldn't just point and spray, I didn't have too much trouble with the buffer. It did fill during my daughter's floor routine towards the end though. No rush to upgrade the body, it does fine as long as you keep a few things in mind. This time around, GLASS FIRST, then I'll get around to a better body! I want replace the rest of my Tokina lenses with the L counterparts.

I used my 70-200 2.8L for all the shots. It was a pretty big gym, so the lens never felt too tight. The lens is perfect for this stuff (duh). It replaces a Tokina 80-200 f/2.8 which was optically very good, but it was too slow in the focusing department. I did miss focus on a few shots, but it was not the lenses fault!
