I'd rather buy online and get a better deal. I don't have an overwhelming need for immediacy.

Online and save. The way I see it, it's only a couple of extra days.

Why wait? I shop at BHphoto for the most part. With what I save in state tax is more than enough to buy two-day or even overnight shipping! I've spent about five grand of stuff online in the past two months. That is $400 in state tax, plus or minus a few dollars. I probably saved well over a grand in price as well! I'm rarely in that much of a hurry to flush my money down the toilet.

And just think of the EXTRA goodies you can buy later with that grand you saved by waiting for a few days! It's not like many of us can just easily go out and make a grand in a couple of days.

Most of what I buy, I keep for decades. So what's a couple of days?

Emergencies are different, of course. But most seeming emergencies aren't.

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?

Actually prefer to buy off here (esp lenses) as there's a chance you know what you are getting compared to the new QC lottery ;) but I would buy online rather than pay ridiculous UK store prices. Have even taken the odd risk on fleabay!

I buy local, but while online prices are a little cheaper thats only if you buy form overseas, in which case by the time you add on shipping and import Tax you often pay more.

Buying local also has the advantage of somewhere to take it back to if it goes wrong.

So long and thanks for all the flash

I tend to buy online and always get 'next-day' delivery - I can just about wait that long :-)

i LOVE to buy now and have it in my hands....but its so not worth it most of the time, if you can buy from B&H and save a ton of $$$....I would rather buy online, save, and buy something extra with the savings Im making from not buying it at a store. Altho, if I lived near B&H, I would be in heaven! LOL And Im still a newbie....wont be long until I start obsessing over L glass! lol

If I can buy in a store at a reasonable price, then I prefer to do it that way - if there are any problems with the goods return and replacement is easier, and it also means I don't have to worry about missing the courier.

And I am so into instant gratification.....;)

I would rather buy online and save, but at times I have had to, due to time constraints, buy local and shoot. When I looked at the price with tax vs online savings and same day delivery (which usually doesn't happen when they are in New York and I am in Houston), the local store looked pretty good. Rebates work at both places.;)

I buy online almost exclusively. B+H gets most of my camera money :) I have never gotten a bad lens or camera body buying in this fashion. Tax savings are considerable.
