Buy online for expensive things, but for odds and ends, I'll go into a shop.

There is nothing local to me so I have no choice but to save money.

Buy online from B&H and wait 24 hours for UPS Express to hand the parcel to me.

My local dealer sells the same and slightly less than B&H but with the tax depending on the price can be more, for the convenience I buy from my dealer, but will check B&H first, I just got my 24-105 from B&H UPS picked it up on a Monday I received it the next morning 10am and this was ground.

in this case I saved 129.00 because of the Discount codes, so if I can save more than 50.00 bucks I'll order on line but only from B&H, so far it was a good experience, I don't mind paying 20-40 bucks more and go home with my purchase but with the quick next day ground from B&H it's worth it

You already get great prices in the US so probably fewer there are so worried about this but here in the UK it can cost over £1300 for a 70-200 f2.8L IS. I imported from the US for a little over £1000 (around $1950). Rip off Britain doesn't stand a chance when I can save money like this.

Since my local camera shop will normally match prices at B&H, I will normally buy from them. Granted, I have to pay tax (we are supposed to anyway), but there are other perks to buying local. They are a great local store and I'd hate to see them close their doors.

I try to buy local if at ALL possible, pricing is usually close and you are getting some customer service that is worth a lot in my opinion. On a personal note: If we spend more of our $$ local then we will never have to complain about not having enough business in our town.

I have no local camera shop that I would consider supporting, so for the most part i buy online. However, if one of the stores comes within %10 of the online price I'll just head on down and pick it up. I just did this at Costco. For the XTi kit they were within $50 of the cheap online stores so they got my business.

I prefer to buy online and dump some of the savings into faster shipping mainly because the only stores in my area are those national chain stores which refuse to even consider price matching. Not as if I'm looking for a match, they won't even budge a penny.

95% of my purchases are made online from B&H. I will occasionaly pick up something in Chicago from Calumet as I'm driving through. I live 8 miles from Madison Wisconsin, and camera stores here are worthless.

I tend to be impatient and like instant gratification but I have learned the meaning of patience, to some degree.

I wouldn't buy locally even though I would love to just have it in my hands. I know I'll pay restocking fees, etc. if I return the item(s) ro some retailers. Also, my recent experiences with a local shop left me with a bad taste. Mail order and online have very good return policies and in most cases, better than the local retailers. I've done business with BH, Beach Camera, Canoga Camera, and Amazon and unless an order is very small I never have a problem with paying for over night shipping or in the case of BH and Beach, if I just pay standard shipping for 3-5 days, it gets here the next day, so the wait isn't that bad. I love BH but I hate that I pay sales tax and shipping, so if I can I'll go to Beach or sometimes to Amazon, which is normally 2 days and there overnight rates are very reasonable.

Considering I generally research for weeks or months before making a purchase, the few days it takes for an item to ship is inconsequential. :-)

I buy local and get a price match. The best of both worlds.

I'd rather buy online and wait just a few extra days to save that money!

I really prefer to buy from my local shop. They offer a level of customer service than an online retailer is simply unable to. I believe the extra money I spend by shopping locally is money well spent...
