As mentioned in another topic a few weeks back I wanted to go on a Christmassy vacation this year, if there's such a thing. I wanted to see the Christmas markets in Germany but I also wanted to go down to the Alps. Munich seemed the perfect choice, so last week I travelled there for 4 days.

I had a great time, saw everything I wanted to, ate a worryingly high amount of sausages and took loads of photos!

A few days before I left I bought a Zenitar 16mm Fisheye. I was originally going to take my trusty Sigma 10-20mm, but I'm beginning to be completely engulfed by manual focus lenses, the Sigma is a superb lens but it's expensive and rather big, so I left it at home. And I'm glad I did, the Zenitar has proved to be a fantastic lens! And considering it is 4x cheaper it may become my only ultra wide lens in the near future.

... on to the pictures! (Click the images for larger versions)

2) Winter Waves, possibly the last thing I expected to see on a cold day in a Munich park! Zenitar -

3) Streets of Gold, the streets come alive as the sun sets and the market trading really begins. Zenitar -

4) Frauenkirche, this very old and very large Church can be seen for miles. Zenitar -

5) Twilight Traders, this long exposure shot shows the markets stalls below the Neue Rathaus (New Town Hall). Zenitar -

6) Sausage Stalls, everywhere you go in Munich you can buy German sausages, for the sake of science I decided to eat them all. Zenitar -

Nice. I'd love to go and see the Chrissy markets in Munich.

And the fisheye is a great lens, but I don't need another lens to aim for I just bought two... damn you! My Credit Card already hates you

Lovely pictures, I lived there for 3 years but didn't have a DSLR at the time. I will be there for 10 days over christmas, hope we get some snow, can't beat mulled wine, a half a fried pig in a bun and a schnapps :) when it is freezing. Great shots, the fisheye thing isn't me but it adds a nice dimension!!

As for the surfing, they do it all year round, and they call the Brits mad!
