When I used to live in Tucson, I used to play golf quite a bit at this place called Fred Enke Golf Course nearby Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. On this street called E. Irvington Rd., I'd see what appeared to me like miles of airplane graveyard. I've never seen anything like that before -- so many planes.... But other than that, I don't know anything about it except that the yard probably belongs to Davis-Monthan Airforce Base. If you want to visit the place, contact the airforce first to see whether they allow visitors and under whatever conditions....

I forget the highway, but it goes right past the entrance. It is military owned and there was a guy at the gate. I guess you need clearence to go in there. No photos or anything either since some of the avionics from military aircraft are still in tact. 5D, Mamiya 6, Yashica-C,FS: EOS-1+Grip

So, he took me in and we drove all over the place. Even inside the base, the airplane graveyards are still behind fences mostly so you cant just walk up to them. A lot of them are in "storage", meaning that if needed, they can be pulled and readied for service.
