why the hell would anyone that knows anything about automotive performance place a licence plate over an intercooler?

Great picts, cool cars, but that really bothered me =)

and the intercooler bothered me too but hey, when a car's that much wider, maybe its for the tracks and takes it off at the track.

It's against the law to drive with no front license plate. And those cars will definately catch the attention of any cop.

Yes that fine, I live in CA and I understand that. When I had my old turbo prelude I just put the plate on the windshield. At the current point in time I don’t have a front plate, and ive never once been pulled over for it.

I don’t care what anyone says, putting a plate OVER the intercooler is just plain stupid. Fine somewhere else to put it. Im in a Heating/Cooling industry and we sell coils. I know how the performance data is affected by removing airflow over the surface area of a coil. You are talking about running the turbos hotter, going thought larger thermal cycles and eventually weaking the life if both the motor and turbo bearings.

Im looking at it from a mechanical standpoint, not from a style standpoint.

Buy hey, its not my car, I don’t care what he does to it. I just find it ironic and funny that someone who spends that type of money on performance gear and nice cars and does not fully understand how little things can affect overall performance.

The plates only go on if the cars have to be driven somewhere. Most of the time, they're towed. They didn't want to drill the holes on the G35's bumper.

Some ARC goodies.

The owner drives his G35 around every once in a while. It was driven to Irwindale for D1, which wasn't too far.:-P But for shows like HIN, IAS, and SEMA, it gets towed.

Check this site out for a feature on the NSX: http://autoimportcraze.com/fcar3.php?CarID=43&menu=5⊂=1 (external link)

I saw a NSX with real ex-JGTC fenders at Tatsumi PA one night. and he drove the sh*t out of it on the high way too. his bumper/fenders were chipped and cracked and the guy was happy it drove it nice. now, thats how a NSX should be driven.
