Can anyone give me a little information on what it costs to have a Canon prime Non-IS lens cleaned internally and lubed?

It would be nice to have some idea of what the cost of same for zoom lenses would also be.

How big of a task is it for one to undertake disassimbling, cleaning, lubing and reassimbling a non IS prime lens?

I have sent an email to Canon's repair facility inquiring about having one of my lens cleaned and lubed.
The answer I got left a bit to be desired...would have to send in the lens first before they would give me an estimate.

Last week I had my local camera shop call the California Canon repair facility to see what it would cost to clean the dust out of a 300mm 2.8 non IS lens.

They said the exact same thing where they usually need to see the lens first before actually doing any quoting.

But they gave us a rough estimate at that if they just needed to do a complete clean of the lens without replacing any parts it would be $250.

Now they also said to do a complete Canon overhaul (minus any parts needed) it would come out to $400.

And as far as I know there is a 6 month warranty also that comes with the lens when it gets shipped back to you from Canon.

Hope that helped!

If you can do it, I can do it. I just have to figure out a different way to do it.
