i think that the 3 gig limitation is actually due to physical limitations (only 2 slots and one of them has an integrated 1gig from the factory). and yes, 2 gig is nice but when you work with CS2 + firefox and maybe itunes in the background, 2 gigs run out real fast.

Hm, I work with CS2 and Firefox and am fine. I do use Winamp though, which I think (don't quote me for this) is less of a resource hog then iTunes.

Also, the 24" iMac is probably the sexiest machine out there right now.

I have an MSDN subscription, I'm using vista enterprise x86 (final) on a test machine.
It's a greedy o/s likes a lot of ram, (idle after install sits around 500-600mb) but if you have that ram the o/s flies. Driver suport is still iffy (expected)
From the testing I have done Photoshop is quite a bit more responsive on vista (probably the huge amounts of prefetch/cache vista uses)

Wouldn't say it's buggy on the machines I have tested it on so far. This operating system I think will be pretty secure too.

So sum it up... So long as you choose hardware wisely and throw at least 3gb in the box you will be impressed with the workspeed.

I'm using Ultimate x64. I think the 64 bit version might just be adding to why I am experience such severe glitchiness.

Not to join in a bandwagon here, but I second that the release version of Vista is pretty darn slick and I've not had any major issues with it at all (heaps better than the pre-release versions). It's not just Photoshop that seems to run better, everything else does. You'd want an absolute minumum of a gig of ram though.

I was always a dyed in the wool Windoze user. Still use my IBM STINKpad for business, though now I can run my specialty software on MAC. That's exactly what finally convinced me to get a MAC.

Although I haven't switched over for business, at least not yet, I love the MAC. I use it for iTunes, DVD burning, Photoshop and web surfing. My 17 inch 100gb 7200rpm 2gb equipped MacBook Pro is an awesome computer. Especially with PS3 coming out, it will be even better.

As to two hard drives inside, why? What's wrong with external drives?

I'm actually thinking of buying a second MAC and putting my business software on it with boot camp and XP.

That's not a bad note. Other then your OS drive, if your working with a lot of files, it might not be a bad idea to have them on external drives, for easy backup and archive. Now they even have esata (not sure if it works with mac's though.)

I think you should go with the PC so you can have the best of both worlds.

BF2 and BF2142 are fun games too, when they work.
