Not sure if this is best in Cityscapes or not but here are two shots I took while on a bridge that goes across a deep ravine. Comments most welcomed :)

I like the sense of grit here. There is a true urban texture that you've plucked up through sparkling highlights. The spherical abberations... are they real? What lens created them? The wonderful light exploding from pure whites to fading silvers pokes at my imagination and the off kilter framing is equally cool. It vibes a sort of comics frame feeling... I expect a super hero to come rumbling through. It creates an interesting tension.
Thanks for sharing....

Happy holiday... Ted

"The spherical abberations... are they real? "
The lights? Everything is absolutely real. :) With a wider lens like the EFS 10-22 I probably could have done even more

Settings were 30 second exp at f22 with the 17-40 L on tripod. This was the best one out of about 20 shots like this.

Grit was exactly what I was going for on this. Thanks for noticing Ted. :)

I'm diggin' the 2nd one quite a bit, good feel and like Ted said, gritty dirty forgotten texture/feeling. Might even belong in the urban section. Love the sense of time passing, and I even like the abberations.

The 1st one, for some reason the distortion or unlevelness doesn't do it for me.

It was in AV mode and I wanted the longest exposure possible with out over exposing it and f22 seemed to do very well.

f4 would have had cars in it.
f8 would have had blurred cars and bad streaks
f11 looked alright sort of but not that great for a slow street
f22 though seemed to work nicely.

For some reason my 20D only goes upto 30 seconds in both TV and AV modes not sure why I thought it went higher then that. Oh well, will have to play around again some night.

Oh yeah and that ICE on that bridge scared the crapola out of me. It was so slippery that I was sure I was going to either slip, break my camera or slip and fall either into traffic or off the 50ft side.

The majority (if not all) of cameras go up to 30 sec exposure, after that you have to use the bulb.

I must say that f 16 would have probably done a better job with the same time exposure as i find the white traffic lights away overexposed, they`ve been cliped,i`m sure your cameras histogram would`ve been blinking.

Next time you could try using bulb with f 13 apperture and different time settings, use your watch or a timer.

If these pictures had 1 or 2 stops underexposure, they would`ve kept the night shooting mood,IMO now they`ve lost it.

I hope i`m being of help and not a pain.:)

Composure of the second frame works much better for me and I like a lot.

I like the second shot for composition and like Dimitri I think it's overexposed...
you're on the right track though.
