I've deliberated a lot about posting these pics - largely as pheasant shooting is quite an emotive subject for a number of people. Additionally, I have also pondered as to whether to post within sports or elsewhere - as shooting is technically a sport then this is where it is starting (MODS: if you see fit to move then please do)

These pictures are from a shoot that a friend of mine owns in Wales. Its a beautiful area of countryside and you could be anywhere - whilst only 20 mins drive from the nearest city, its the middle of nowhere.

I aimed to capture the whole of the day - the shooting, the people, the gundogs and of course, the product of the day - the pheasants. This, I hope, I managed to do tastefully. The attached are a small selection of images from the day.

Enjoy and thank you for looking. C&C welcome as ever.

1. This was the shooting shot that I hoped I would get - didn't expect to get it on day 1!

If its a sport then it belongs here. IMHO :)

Last one is the pick of the bunch for me :)

Can't see why this should be a problem i think we all know where meat comes from.In my opinion we need food and so long as animals aren't killed for no purpose it's legit.

Thanks guys - glad that a "real-life" view is being taken when looking at these.

Steve - am still convinced that #1 was luck, not timing!! Or is it both!!

First shot is fantastic. Perfect timing. I like the lighting on number 2 as well. It's too bad though that the dog on the left had his head cut off. Nice series overall.

Nothing wrong with hunting and guns in the hands of the law abiding majority, IMHO.

I would say the top shot is the pick of the litter. That's an awesome capture.

lol - I haven't heard that before, I shall definitely be using it again though - thank you!

Likewise - if it wasn't for the ear defenders it could be almost timeless. The chap shooting is a very close friend who I have known for the best part of 20 years. Those 2 pics are his Christmas present this year (just hope he doesn't read this forum or I've just put my foot in it!! lol  )

Thank you.

That dog in #3 was stood to heel obediently right up until they point that I started to move my index finger......then wandered off! Whoever said don't work with animals had a point!!!

And I agree on your final point - but speak to a number of people around here and in the UK and you get quite a heated response.

Photographs are records of life. Pity they don't make music when you put them in a record player. :p
