My grandma let me take my pick at some of my grandpa's old camera stuff and since none of the stupid Canon lenses would work, she let me take his old Retina Reflex S. Now, I have no idea what year it is. A quick search told me that the Reflex S was made from 1959-1961 but I have no idea what year it is. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Here's a couple photographs of it with the flash on it:

Oh, and does anyone know where I could pick up an adapter for that flash so it'll work on the Reflex just for kicks? It needs a bulb too.. But this stuff all came with the original manuals and I even got three filters that work on my XT that are in good condition.

I'm still kind of bummed about the old Canon lenses not fitting.. Is there some sort of adapter that I can buy that won't kill image quality? Thanks!

I think you might find that out if you knew the model number.

There is no practical adapter for the old Canon lenses. Not worth the effort anyway...I suspect finding flashbulbs is not going to be a real treat either. You might find some additional info on the camera at Kodak.com

Yeah, I just realized that they're one-use bulbs so I'll just keep it around because it's kind of cool.

"Kodak Retina Reflex, Retina Reflex S 2nd Edition 1959 Focal Press Guide (Soft Back 122x162mm) Red plastic cover used condition 96pge"
That's the book that it came with so I guess it's a 1959 model. Thanks anyways

I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

You can still get flash bulbs:

I can even still get film for my 1909 No. 3-A Folding Pocket Kodak Model B-4 (originally pattented in 1894) :)

Looks good ... I have three old Zorki Rangefinders which are Russian Leica copies and really solid and nice to use. The lens on that looks nice too. What is it?

The lense on there in the picture is the 134MM telephoto with a polarizing filter. One lense from this camera weighs as much as the whole body of my Rebel XT!

Weight is very largely why I embraced digital so happily.
