I was in a mall the other day and saw a mall santa photographer set up with a Canon XT. I know of several pros that use the XT and wondered what everybody else uses...

Can we keep this vote to just the people that make money using their cameras?

I think that your poll should have alllowed for multiple choices and should have separated out the 1 series bodies into the D and Ds.

I shoot with the 5D, 1DMKII and 1DsMKII. Which body gets used is dependant upon what the job at hand is. I do have a 30D and this is used sparingly at weddings by an assistant but generally is my personal use/vacation camera.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Good point. Maybe I should have said "primary" camera.
I realised there are different flavours of 1D. I guess I should have phrased the poll better along the lines of:

older camera
XT/XTi/D Rebel
10D/20D/30D
1D/s/n/etc

I use the 20D and the 10D at the moment. Within the next year, though, I'm looking at a possible upgrade to either the 5D or 1DMkIIN.

I use two 1Dmark II's and a 20D for the backup and travel camera, They get the job done. I won't purchase another DSLR until one of mine is unusable. I've been looking more into the Mamiya 645 series to get back into film and still have the digital option in the future.

Either you have money running out your ears, or your photography business is REALLY paying off.

That's a lot of camera bodies!!!

I'm counting on them releasing new bodies so the price of these will drop like a rock! ;)

I shoot with a 1DsMkII which was not on your list.

I would at this point way rather have a 5D then a 1D.

Does it matter? The camera is only a tool, the same as a plumber uses a wrench. And that is why I dont post equipment list - its not relevant to anyone except anoraks

The santa shooter is probably doing prints no larger than 10x8 and so his camera is fine. I have just had a tog shooting the same with a 6 year old D30. No-one worried about her camera, why would they?

why, worry about the camera? for me, it's as simple as being able to focus properly for sports. the xt just doesn't have enough juice to power both IS and af at the same time (hell, even the viewfinder display, you know, the green text, gets dim when af and IS are on at the same time). also, af accuracy matters a lot, even for newsprint. 20d and above is basically a must for sports photogs, unless you like a 10% success rate (don't say that you should manual focus it, because xt doesn't have the option within warrentee). just like a pumber wouldn't use a wrench that doesn't provide enough foot-pounds of torque, a photographer shouldn't use a camera that doesn't provide what you need.... of course, if price is an issue (which it always will be), then go for the best you can afford... (in my case, xt)

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
