Some just don't have any luck, Chad. I love UPS. My stuff always seems to get here not only on time, but at least a day early. Maybe you've got some slackers at your distribution center.

If there is luck involved, that explains everything :)

UPDATE: UPS just came. My goodies are here. 2 days late, but B&H should have an easy time getting their money back. The reason I asked for mine back first is because they facilitated the sale of UPS's service to me. They did nothing wrong, however they took my money for a product that I never received, therefore the refund should come from them, as soon as it became impossible to get the product I bought.

To Ronald's point, it's not my experience that UPS gets it right more often. From my purchases, they are usually late/problematic as I described in the original post.

It is the holiday rush for heaven's sake....The closure of the airport in Denver might not seem a big deal to you, but it caused a need for massive rerouting of goods that normally would go through that facility. There was an effect on shipments across the country as a result. The good news is that your stuff arrived, even if it didn't happen the exact moment you wanted. UPS, FedEx, USPS, and all the other carriers do an amazing job when you sit down and examine the sheer volume of material that they process. Enjoy your holiday...Peace on earth...good will toward man!

I am sure it's a profit thing.

How does a company stand to profit by creating a situation which causes someone to bad mouth them? I'm not saying the criticism isn't completely unwarranted, but to suggest that it's done by design seems kinda' silly...

Well considering the package went from NY to KC, I doubt Denver played a big part in it...

I worked for UPS for 15 years, most of it in management. You would be surprised where pkgs go in the system in order to get them delivered. UPS uses a hub and spoke system to move pkgs around the country(and the world, for that matter). In the early days of air shipments, every pkg, no matter where it was picked from or was going to, went through the Air Hub in Louisville, Ky. If it was NY to LA, it went through Louisville; if it was DC to Balt, or LA to San Fran, it went through Louisville. There are many air hubs these days but the premise is the same. I also dealt with my share of upset customers, but when you are handling 15-20 million pkgs a day, something is going to get damaged, or lost or delayed. Anyways, UPS certainly isn't perfect, but what delivery company is??

I had a package delivered from california, to Iowa, to Texas, to Ohio, to PA, to NY (waaay upstate), and back to me on the PA border.

Talk about the "roundabout" route. It still got to me in three days, though.

UPS has done me well. I don't like using Fedex, at least when I'm expecting.

DHL, I don't like. I've had dozens of packages delivered by them, and not one was ever on time.

They delievered to my neighbor and when i called them they took 15 minutes to figure out it was my neighbor. I actually had to kinda figure it out as they said, it was dropped of to this door with this person who looked like "this".

Yeah, DHL probably is my least fav of the 3 main ones.

Ordered my lens from B&H at 10:30AM on Wednesday, had it by 5PM on Thursday. Between Brown and B&H I have no complaints.

Then the problem lies with Brown in your area. I live WAAAAY out in the boondocks and I never have trouble with either UPS or FedEx.

If you do, I suggest you specify FedEx when ordering, or (shudder) the USPS.

the package car driver has two days to deliver packages when they go "out for delivery" it's rare that they'll need the second day, but around the holidays it does happen.

That's the silliest thing I have heard. Unless something has changed since I left UPS, (OK, alot has changed, but I seriously doubt that this has)that is flat out wrong. A delivery attempt has to be made on every package a driver has on his package car. There are very few reasons to bring a package back at the end of the day without having made a delivery attempt on it.

Actually, for me UPS gets it wrong more than right. Had the same experience this holiday and absolutely hate to use them. When you pay $99 for 2 day, you should get two day. And did any of you know that if you pay for 2 day on a Friday, they don't have to tell you that they don't count Sat. as one of the days? If you want them to include Sat., as one of the days you have to pay $15 extra...I hate dealing with UPS unless it doesn't matter to me when something arrives. Because they eventually will get it there...unlike DHL...who often delivers my stuff to my neighbors...
