Yeah, Mike. I understand the feeling, too. I had to put my 13-year old pup Murray down last year. I still miss him. We got a GSD pup about a year ago and named him.......Remy! Here's a pic. Maybe it'll cheer you up just a bit.

What a cutie! Definitely made me laugh a bit. Nice name ;)

Mike, my deepest condolences. :/

We've had to put two dogs down. One of them was dad's. The only time I've ever seen my dad cry is
when he realized that it was time for "Captain" to go. We knew it was coming because he had been
struggling for about 2 years already, but every time we thought "this is it," he would pull right
through. In the end, they kind of give you that look that says "it's okay, it's my time." Afterwards the
loss is hard, but time heals. You'll have plenty memories to cherish now. (:

Mike I'm so sorry about Remy. What a great looking baby.
Makes me cry just thinking about losing Chloe. She's 9.

I know this one isn't the best quality image, but sometimes you just capture a funny moment and in this case he was winking.

You've still got a long while :) What I wouldn't do for 3-4 more years with rem.

Make sure you cherish the time, and take tons of pics! So glad I have all these photos :)

This has undoubtedly been the hardest 48 hours of my life. Granted I have never lost a direct family member. but holy crap, I don't know how anyone does this multiple times throughout their life. The house just isn't the same - he was there when we moved in ten years ago and he has never not been there in some form or another.

Sorry for bringing the thread down, I just need to get it off my chest. Empty bowls, toys, the spots where he layed every night with the carpet all worn down..just too much.

He was a gsd/collie...shepherds are really wonderful dogs, every one i've met.

I don't know. I don't think you can get over it like when your car dies or a pet fish dies. There is definitely a bond/connection there. Especially when you've spent so many years with them.

I don't think I get as attached to our dogs like I did in the past but maybe that's part of getting older. I think I see death more as a part of life now and there's no way for any of us to escape it. Regardless of how it actually works it's hard to loose a dog!

I know some people cope with it by getting another puppy right away while others can't get another dog for a long time if ever.

Jon.
