Im glad that my breeder does not follow this sort of behaviour as a GSD no matter if its Blue,White or any other colour is still a remarkable living animal and i am so glad that quite a few of us are not as narrow minded regarding the so called breed standard set out by the kennel club although they are still more than willing to accept my payment for his pedigree registration.

The breeder that i got Blaze from has a long family history of breeding the straight backed, long haired GSD and breeds for Health and Temperament above anything else and carries out all relevant health test's including Hip and Elbow scoring, Haemophilia testing,Eye testing and DNA Profiling.

I wont get in to a major row over this as it makes my blood boil as my dog is a part of my family and not some sort of fashion accessory that must look a certain way or colour so i will end this with a quote from the breed founder of the GSD.

"No good dog is a bad color" -- Max von Stephanitz
(breed founder of the German Shepherd Dog)

I think you will find that the breed standard now set out by the Kennel Club is way off what the original idea was set out to be and i am sure that Max Von Stephanitz would be ashamed at any healthy GSD being destroyed for any reason regarding its coat length or colour.

I would just like to echo this post 100%
To destroy just based on colour is disgusting.

The loss of jobs is very common around here too. Tell him to stay positive. Most of the people we know who lost their jobs are still looking. But things do seem to be getting better. Just hold on. What kind of work is he in? Has he joined LinkedIn yet?

Nice pictures too!

Jon.

Thanks, Jon. He's in IT and it seems the jobs have dried up here in Memphis. We are actually looking to make a move, possibly this month. We may head to Austin and hope for good luck because we both love it so - and it's looking more and more like we won't be able to hold on to our house anyway :(. We're both on LinkedIn.

In the meantime, I just keep taking pictures because that makes me happy :)

To keep this a picture thread, here's another of the boy. He looks so goofy with the tape in his ears, but his eyes look so intelligent in this picture (at least to me).

silly question, why are his ears tape together and on top? To get them to stand up?

Yes, he had gotten to 6 months old with his ears still flopping over, and the cartilege was starting to crease. Many people who have shepherds (including my vet) say if the ears aren't up by six months, you have to help them up. The 10 days of tape did the trick. They are standing up great now.

Here are Pike and Maggie from earlier today being utter goofballs. Taken with the 200 2.8. Pike likes to think he's the boss but notice he does not have the Airdog even once.

ahh ok yeah my gsd ears came up at 8 1/2 weeks she 12 weeks now and they stand straight up I'll post a picture tomorrow but we got her at 5 /12 weeks and gave her milk twice a day till 11 weeks old. My vet said the calcium made her ears stand up and also helps her bones. I love your long hair gsd's such a pretty coloring too.

Wow, Pike is getting BIG.
It appears that he's just a BIT shy of Maggie's size!

Pike is pretty large! He is definitely giving Maggie a run for her money these days. Hey, haileylommen I see you have the Sigma 10-20mm. How do you like it? I got a bad copy of the lens and I need to send it in. I'm actually going to do that today. I'm hoping once Sigma looks at it, I'll love it.

How much does he weigh at 6 months? He's a monster. haha

I love the Sigma 10-20mm, unfortunately I don't have many opportunities where I need to use it. I did take it on a camping trip though in Colorado, and it was all I used. It proved to be worth holding onto. (: The only flaw I would say is that I wish it had a lower aperture, but other than that it's a good lens IMO!

I posted a long time ago here, my first photo post actually, and I just got a few new ones of my boy, Buck. I figured I'd share them here again.
