That last shot of Greta with the tilted head is a classic.

And for everyone taking all these cute puppy shots, make sure you keep taking pictures and post them for us. It's always fun to see how the pups grow.

Jon.

I agree that what show breeders think is good looking is ... not good, far too much slope is being bred into these dogs, but I don't think it's appropriate to flat out call another person's dog deformed.

I assumed it was a picture of a GSD he saw at a show, not his own dog. If I assumed wrong then I apologize for being rude, but I still stand behind what I said. I wouldn't really fault anyone for having an extreme slopey shepherd as a pet, but showing it off as if it is an ideal specimen is just wrong IMO.

I think this is a very important issue with dog breeding and showing. I will just leave it at that though, and not bring up the subject again.

Here are a few of Baron. One pre-swimming and three post. :)
First one is the 85mm 1.8, the others are 50mm 1.4.
I apologize in advance for the quality of the last three,
it was pitch black and they were basically snapshots. :)

Stregone, I do agree with you, vehemently in fact, but I woke up grumpy today so sorry if I was harsh. It just came across like posting "Your kid looks retarded" after someone posts a picture of their child - pretty harsh. We all know how dear these dogs become to us and saying something like that can be hurtful.

Baron is so adorable! My Kimi closes her eyes when a ball is thrown to her as well... weirdo. :D

Especially if you wouldn't have the cajones to do it in real life, and if you do and you can't do it any more delicately you need to go back to grade 1 and learn how to play with others properly. The internet doesn't excuse you from social etiquette people! FFS.

He has a beautiful face!

Thanks i think he does too!

I did take offence. I take photos of the dogs at shows, i show my dog as well.
He is a show line dog.
As i said i think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I think that some show lines are too extreme.
I personally dont like the look of working line GSDs, but each to their own.
So yes i did take it personally when you said they were deformed.
I wouldnt say that about your dog, so i would appreciate you not saying it about mine. :)

I have thick enough skin to take your comments, i just dont agree and will defend my dog - because to me he is one of my 'kids'

I took these tonight
The second one is not properly focused and i dont know why, but i really like the last one.
If you have any tips i would love some as i am still learning - such as settings etc
They were taken inside with the lights on, no flash on a 30D

istie-55 - Lovely dog and cute shots. Your white balance is rather off. It's nice to give a warm effect but if not shooting raw you should change your white balance to Tungsten to reduce the yellow tinge. Also, the photos haven't missed focus, its a camera shake problem due to the shutter speed being too slow. 1/8th of a second is way too slow for a handheld shot. On the 30D you can either bump the ISO to 3200 (instead of the 1600 used) and use a wider aperture if you lens is capable (I noticed this was shot at F5). 1/80th would be an ideal speed for this kind of shot.

Last shot is lovely.

Here's a shot from the same shoot but without the saturation knocked down a couple knotches:
