I was offered the advise of filling the frame when I take photos of birds, so I attempted to do so. These photos are only partially cropped, and resized for posting.

I managed to get within a few feet of the red, but had to contend with the lorikeet feeding in the higher branches.

1) Immature Red Wattle (you can see it's wattle is still developing)

It was a bit windy that day so that might be part of it. It was also chased off the best tree by the lorikeets shortly before I took those shots. I've never been to close to one before, and never see such a young one so it could have also been molting - it's summer now *shrugs*
