Thing is, I just finished school until February 26th, so I have a lot of spare time and I'd like to make something in order to save for the DSLR... I am quite good with tools, and I thought of doing a rig for me, and then I thought of selling them... Now I have to do a market study...

THE question is... Would you buy an almost exact replica (probably even better because I hate that string it has, and I may offer some additions) of the Automotive Rig (sold for $799.99) from me? If the answer is yes, how much would you be willing to pay for it?

Thanks in advance, Nicolas Rubio

It would have to a heck of a deal, b/c for you to ship something like that to the states (i realize the US is not the only country on this board, but it is dominated by US and UK) it would almost negate any real price benefit. Now if you can make something that is much better and cheaper then it might happen. Also i dont think i would trust a rig like that, that didnt have that 'string' which is a cable and it helps make the joint much stronger.

Aside from all that, that rig would be extremely easy for someone to build themselves for half as much as what Automotive Rigs is making right now.

You might also have to look a legal obligations too, are you going to garuntee that the rig is safe and will not fail ? If so will you have the backing to replace someones MKII and 17 - 40 L !?

Please understand that i am not trying to bash your dreams into a million pieces, but rather just giving you some food for thought.

Maybe you could sell the parts lists, or diagrams to a rig you design ?

I myself have been looking into building my own rig, but i havent gone full force yet, and the most difficult thing to find would be the proper magnets. Maybe you have already found them though.

Ken

I'll think about them and repost later...

Oh? could you expand on that?

magazines and forums are saturated with them. people do them to get a quick wow but in reality there are very few which look original. if you can do something new then yes, if not why bother??????

p.s if your asked for them by a mag fair enough as they pay you to take pics

I don't see a real big market for them.
