Hi all - I am new to your forum. Have spent some time browsing and it is very impressive. I am hoping to get some help and advice (surprise, surprise!)

I have an S1 that is about 20 months old that I love, but recently have been seeing some pictures come out very dark. This happens in "normal" indoor lighting siutations where flash is required. Flash fires, and intensity seems normal to me, but picture looks like I took it with no flash in a very dimly lit room. This started a couple of weeks ago and has become more frequent, maybe 2% of pix at first, now maybe 4 or 5%. Hasn't occurred when no flash is required, but I haven't taken a lot of pix like that lately either.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this kind of issue? Any advice on correcting, or is my S1 in trouble? (It has been used and abused, so I can't complain if this is the end).

Secondly, I have been thinking about buying an A630 (before the issues with my S1) for more MPs. Camera looks awesome to me and reviews are solid. I was liking the idea of using boths cameras (love the 10X zoom on the S1 for nature shots), but now with the S1 in question I'm thinking I might go for the S3 instead. Any opinions or advice on A630 vs S3? I can live with 6 MPs, though I really want more.

Thanks in advance for any help!

well, what size pics do u print out? I've used Kodak and a friend's S2, and i liked the Canon so much i just last month bought an S3. I LOVE IT, and i'm glad i chose this one. Yea its 6.1mp but honestly, why would you need more unless you're doing some massive photo's or zooming and cropping after you take a pic? I hate the fact that i have to downsize all the time but u never know when u want them bigger.

I havent seen an s1 but i'd say the increase in quality, zoom, tilt swivel scree, and other features, etc... you would be very happy.

I havent used the compact Point and Shoot tho but i LOVE my s3, just my .02

any thoughts on problem described above?

aparis99, I kind of agree on MPs, but I would like the opportunity to zoom and crop with limited constraints. My current camera is 3.2, so it is pretty limited in that regard.
