Have you ever got a virus? If so please tell us what it did and how you think you got it.

Thanks.

I've owned at least one Mac continuously since around 1989. The only virus I ever got was a Microsoft Word or Excel macro virus, back in the mid 90's -- and that was at work where we were a Mac peripheral company. Those viruses were easily passed along in shared documents. I have never gotten a virus on an OS X machine, even off the web or in worm-laden e-mails. I don't use virus protection, but I have the built-in OS X firewall on. No worries -- yet.

no virus, because my husband insists we use virus software. he is an IT manager and works strictly with macs. i do believe he knows what he is doing.

Own a Mac, no Antivirus software and never got a virus. I also had PCs (with antivirus software) and never had a virus either. I guess if you are really cautious, you can avoid most of them ;-)a

I've had viruses on my PC... even with the latest and greatest AV software loaded.

Don't turn this into a Mac vs PC fight or the thread will be locked.

I've been using PCs for years and haven't ever had a virus either... though I have had the latest AV software for most of the time I've been using them.

I know two mac users personally whom I've discussed this with and neither of them had ever gotten a virus - I don't think they used any kind of AV software either.
