<sigh> I keep saving toward a Mac. They're not cheap but the lack of viruses is very attractive.

ok, just to clarify:

the mas OS is not inherently immune to viruses.

they can get a virus just like a pc. the only reason they usually don't is because nobody bothers to write virus code for the mac OS. i'm sure this will change the more often and louder we scream "macs are immune to viruses!"

that said, macs do have great virus protection built into the OS but its very important to allow your computer to check for updates and ALWAYS download system updates as these will contain the most current virus protection software.

The Macs create their own virus, it is called "User Fanaticisim." I caught that bug back in 1984 with my first Mac, the Mac 128, and then the "Fat Mac" which contained the whole 512 MB! :) I went to San Francisco three years running, those were the days of AW, especially the year I went and saw the all powerful Super Mac, with 1 GB! I went to the dark side with Windows '98 when MS finally copied the Apple interface to an extent it was nearly usable. lol I got tired of not being able to find/use certain applications, especially online when banks and other places put Macs at the end of the line for being able to use the sites. With the dual core processors, I now understand it works pretty well switching platforms almost seamlessly. If that is actually the case now, my next laptop will most likely be a Mac again. Apple makes everything so well, and their extended warranties are wonderful. Sounds like I still have the virus. ;)
