I was looking up lens' on Ebay and I found a store which sells these
http://cgi.ebay.com …6QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem (external link)
Now I'm new to photography and I was wondering if anyone has used this lens, and if it's good. Also, it says with only one stop loss, I'm not quite sure what that means, could someone explain? I'm thinking of buying this lens for the extra zoom, but mostly to keep the stock lens protected. Another thing, would I beable to use a UV filter with this lens? Sorry the post is so long, I hope I'm not too annoying. =(

Thanks in advance!

For what they want for that lens plus shipping you could get the Canon lens from somebody like Amazon with free shipping and not have to worry if it works or not.

Alright, I'm ordering some stuff from there right now, and I was wondering what I should get. I'm getting a 52mm Lens adapter and Cap, but I want something to protect my lens. Should I get a Hoya UV filter or Polarizer? Is Hoya a good brand?

Edit: If I were to choser the polarizer, should I get the double coated or 6 coated? Would the double make me lose quality?

Thanks

For me, even before I got my camera I had already ordered the 52mm adapter, Hoya UV filter, 6 layer Hoya Circular polarizer, foldable lens hood, and the lens cap for the adapter. I think these are the "basics" we should have. The uv filter really makes a nice difference imo. I'm still learning the polarizer as at first I didn't like cuz I thought it made things too dark, but now lol I know I can just turn the lens and it's shaded differently der...felt dumb when I realized this. So yesterday was the first time I've used it, and I can see the difference but I haven't done enough yet to really know how to use it.

I had also ordered the Transcend 150X 2GB mem card but later was told you could get the same card a good bit cheaper at newegg.com. All together I ordered $150 worth of stuff from lensmate before even receiving my camera lol.

From what I had read yes Hoya is a good brand. And I really like the lens adapter and lens cap. I leave my adapter on at all times and really like the cap. I bought a nice Sony Handycam bag from Wal-Mart for $28 that everything fits nicely into with lots of room to spare :D

I have not yet purchased any of the cool accessories yet, but I have read in other forums and posts a limitation on the 52mm.

Many have opted to get the 58mm adapter instead, because some say that the 52mm causes some vignetting around the edges.

Based on that, I do believe that I will purchase the 58mm myself.

Lensmate actually recommends the 52mm adapter for the S2/S3 specially if you're considering add on lenses

I've just got the 52mm adapter and a couple of filters and have not noticed any problems yet.
