I finally snapped pics of my late fathers camera's. There are few minolta 35m film camera's (3000I and 5000I) with numerous lenses. Im not sure if these are even decent film camera's. There are no manuals and I have no idea how to use them.
There are also a few light meters. 1 selkonic incident meter and anotehr westin light meter.
Anyway here are the pics.

Now my question is how the hell do I use any of these? Im going to take them up to the local camera shop here in NJ and see if they can help me out.

Try searching online for manuals. I found one for a 1970's model Mamiya without any problem.

The Zorki 4K is a Russian Leica copy and is a rangefinder camera

http://www.rus-camera.com …page=zorki&camera=zorki4k (external link)

The other two alongside look like Zorki's as well, but the left one is in fact a 'Mir' rangefinder (a slightly cheaper version of the 4K I believe)

http://herron.50megs.com/russian.htm (external link) (look about halfway down this page)

Try here for a manual:

Stick a cheap film in and have some fun!

the all black one says or think it says zopkui, but its looks like it was ground in somehow then painted black. If you look at the second photo you can see where it was painted.

What about the one that flips down? my father had written on a piece of paper kodak color 6x9.

Hi

I suggest you get down to the library and check this book out as a guide to background etc of each of the cameras http://www.amazon.com …sic-Cameras/dp/0931838347 (external link)

Also, if anything like the UK you could possibly find a local enthusiasts club/group that could/would be able to answer all your questions and get you started on using them.

HTH :)

thanks for the link.

I drove up to the local camera shop. The guy that helped me was quiet surprised at how well the zorki 4 looked and worked for beeing probably close to 30 years old. No shutter lag, timer was dead on, all buttons and moveable thingies worked smoothly. So i bought a roll of B&W film for it.

Also figured out how to use the russian leiss knockoff.

Is there anyway to find out if the zorki uses a M39 or M42 screw? I searched for some lenses on ebay and found lenses for the zorki but get it in either m39 or m42.

Hi

I have not time to throughly check this http://www.beststuff.com/forum/index.php?25 (external link) out but 'they' specialise in Russian cameras and it is possible you could find someone with the specific answers you need.

I found the link to that from http://photo.net …ch-msg?msg_id=00APj3&tag= (external link) where there is a thread that makes valid points about such M39 & M42 "threaded mount" confusion.

HTH & have fun with the kit.

:)

I'm pretty sure it's M39 - the old Zenith SLR's were M42.

This may help:

That second link was very very helpfull. Thanks for posting it.

actually the zorki 4 uses L39 or LTM lenses. So yes i can use leica thread mount lenses. But now im limited as the m39/42 are pretty common on ebay and the L39's are not.
