Hello,

Was checking my xmas pics yesterday on my bro's PC with some cheap internal mem card reader he had, it was copying files fine, taking like 2 mins internally to copy stuff over when suddenly it shot up to 30 hours plus before grinding to a halt and crashing his PC.

Had to reboot and when using the mem card its now coming up as Unable to read, I/O error, and it states CF Err on my canon cam.

Anyone else get this? I want to recover my xmas pics but its looking unlikely now, and when looking on the sandisk site for support, there is only numbers to ring, is that all you do? Just call them up for a replacement? Thanks.

Try using a recovery software (external link) in order to save as many pictures as possible. Then try to format the card in the camera - if you can't do that and the warranty is still valid, you will have to replace the card. I would go to the store I bought it from and try to solve this issue with them.

Finally, when you done with the card - get yourself a decent card reader (external link) ;)

Best wishes,
Oleg.

i bought the cards around august/sept time this year from amazon, but cant find anywhere to get it replaced

what software do you use to recover it? The thing is, im using that sandisk 12 in 1 reader, standup usb one... but didnt bring it to my parents so used my bro's cheapo inbuilt thing at the time.

As soon as u put the mem card in, it comes up with that error, or whenever u try to access it. Will have to try it again later

If it is defective I think that Sandisk has a lifetime warranty. Check their corporate site.

checked that program out, nah the mem card is dead, states unaccessible :(

do you ring the numbers via the contact tab on the sandisk site or is there a specific section for faulty memory cards?

I called the number from their website. They opened up a case # or something like that taking all the required information about when and where I bought the card. Soon after I got an email leading me to their website where I was able to download a mailing label to send the card in. I think it took about 2 weeks for me to get a new card. I'm not sure what the process is for the UK.
