Well I braved the weather and armed with my new 30D off I toddled to the lake. Just wish I had remembered that I had the camera set to spot metering.
1/250s @ f/5.6 and ISO 200
Any critique is more than welcome.

Congratulations!! I absolutely love my 30D. It's a great camera and those are nice first shots. Just keep shooting.
